Easter Action Around the Lake District

Easter is fast approaching and treats, festive forays and family fun are lining up as the country's biggest national park embraces one of its busiest Bank Holidays. From the moment schools break-up, a full programme of events is up for grabs, many at the Lake District Visitor Centre on the shores of Windermere.

Activities are exciting, varied and many of them free. Lake District National Park Authority's events co-ordinator Andrea Hills urged visitors and locals alike to check out the events and guided walks 2014 guide.

Minibeast detecting gets the show rolling on 11th April, followed by archery on 13th April, survival skills on the 15th and biking skills with the experts on the 17th.

Each day there are compelling guided walks where epic landscape is explored and explained. From gentle lakeside strolls to more challenging hill hikes, skilled award-winning volunteers are poised to lead the way.

Seatoller farm walk on 10th April is an early action. Discover how farming shaped the landscape and a unique way of life. Families are invited to wander Wasdale on 13th April and hear Ullswater's epic hunchback and the swan story in an Easter Sunday hike.

Brockhole will buzz across the weekend as the lively centre hosts treasure hunts, its very own bunny and special Easter attractions. Monday sees navigation skills being explored at Grasmere and a first family fell climb on Brantfell, Bowness.
