Great Landscapes Week 2019

The Friends of the Lake District have a week packed with activities and events for you for Great Landscapes Week 2019 which runs from Saturday, 3rd August to Friday, 9th August. This week-long series of events celebrate every aspect of our glorious landscapes with something for everyone whatever age or ability.

Ruth Kirk, Landscape Engagement Officer said:

From Saturday 3rd to Friday 9th August 2019 we're inviting you to step into our great Cumbrian landscapes and find different ways to experience what's so special.

Great Landscapes offer endless opportunities for physical, spiritual and mental well-being. They've been the inspiration for artists, poets and adventurers down the centuries.

They also offer us the fundamental stuff of life: water, oxygen, fuel, soil to grow food and a place to live for humans, wildlife and nature. But they're also under threat and, in our busy lives, we can take for granted the true beauty and importance of what is above, below and all around us.

We think we've catered for everyone this year! Bats, fell ponies, a treasure hunt, alpacas, dry stone walling, rainforests, landscape art, a woodland wild camp with 'rewilding people' activities. It's going to be a wild week so get yourself and your friends and family booked onto one of our fabulous events this summer.

There's still time to sign up for one of their (mostly free) events celebrating every aspect of our glorious landscapes, with something for everyone, whatever age or ability.
