The Evolution of Ordnance Survey Mapping

The Ordnance Survey blog has recently made a posting which we think you will find fascinating if, like us, you're interested in maps for themselves as well as tools to use. They took samples from their maps around Keswick and Derwent Water over two hundred years and combined nine images together to produce a composite map showing how their mapping style has evolved over the years.

The earliest maps were in black and white but as time as time goes on colour is added, and taken away sometimes, as their style evolves. The end result is fascinating, and rather beautiful.
