Not a particularly aesthetically pleasing walk as it goes back on itself to avoid trespass in Martindale Deer Forest. The track from Hartsop is taken up to Hayeswater and then the open fell is followed to the summit of Rest Dodd. The peat hags that bar the way to The Nab look impressive and must be skirted around to reach the summit. It is then wise to retrace your steps to the boundary wall as this is private land. The wall is followed and the path winds its way through rocks steps and crags, passing Satura Crag until eventually the head of valley is reached and a return to Hartsop down the flanks of Brock Crags can be made.
