Tour of Britain stage in Lake District

The Tour of Britain 2013 The Lake District is gearing up to be the focus of global attention when the world's best cyclists pass through during this year's Tour of Britain race on Monday, 16th September. The 186 kilometre stage from Carlisle to Kendal will see riders pedal up and down the notorious Honister Pass before entering Keswick.

As you can see from our map the route passes through most of the Lake District including Wigton, Cockermouth, Maryport, Workington, Whitehaven, Buttermere, Keswick, Ambleside, and Windermere on the way to Kendal including using the main A591, the backbone road of the Lake District, so you should allow for this in your plans if you will be in Cumbria that day.

And, if you are coming to the Lakes for the event, remember that our room finder has details of accommodation of all types and at a wide variety of prices which should be able to find you a bed, both before and after the race.

The full route map, including a profile, is available online and you can also download the route in GPX track format with waypoints for your GPS here (109KB).
