Some more walks in The North Western Fells

We mentioned recently that we've been doing more work in the north west in particular this year and we've now walked every Wainwright in his The North Western Fells, the first of his books which we've completed. Here are a couple of other walks taking in fells from that book:

Whiteside from Hopegill Head

• The Grasmoor Six Wainwright Fells - this is a long and very fine walk indeed. Having put a lot of energy into the ascent this walk makes the most of it by meandering over the six Wainwright fells making up the Grasmoor range: Whiteside, Hopegill Head, Grasmoor, Crag Hill, Wandope, and Whiteless Pike and also takes in some other tops. If you are do this walk in the late spring you may see the Rannerdale bluebells in bloom which are rather famous.

• Grisedale Pike and Hopegill Head - a 13km walk which gives you two Wainwrights, Grisedale Pike and Hopegill Head without too much of a drop between them, which is always nice. It also brings you back along Coledale with a chance to visit the ruins of Force Crag mine.
